Proceeds to support families battling pediatric brain cancer

Hogs for the Cause co-founders, Becker Hall and Rene Louapre, are excited to announce the release of a new wine they have created together. Boucaner, pronounced Boo-Kah-Neh, is a unique blend of Washington Syrah and Oregon pinot noir. The red blend boasts a softness and balance that makes the wine easy to drink on its own, but is perfect with BBQ ribs, smoked chicken wings, rosemary and garlic coated lamb chops, spicy pastas, and thick steaks basted with butter. A portion of proceeds from Boucaner sales will be donated to Hogs for the Cause.

“Rene and I had been looking for a way to pair our passion for wine with the foods we love, as we are always asked what goes best with BBQ,” said Hall, Chief Executive Officer for Hogs. “When we had the opportunity to work with world-renowned Oregon winemaker Lynn Penner-Ash we knew we would have a winner.” Penner-Ash has earned many outstanding ratings from Wine Spectator and has made the Top 100 list twice. This medium bodied, garnet colored wine presents dense fruit flavors of ripe blackberries and summer fruit compote upon entry. These flavors give way to vanilla and rich baking spices which lead into the structured and elegant finish.

“We founded Hogs for the Cause in 2009 to help families battling pediatric brain cancer and celebrate the culture of cooking outdoors,” said Louapre, Chief Operating Officer for Hogs. “This wine is a natural extension of the camaraderie of Hogs for the Cause and the foods we love to eat with our families and friends. It’s a great choice for gift giving and toasting this holiday season, so we encourage everyone to grab a few bottles, or a case, and share with everyone.” Boucaner is currently sold at many local grocery stores and wine shops, including Robert Fresh Market, Dorignac’s, Canseco’s Supermarket, Langenstein’s, Brady’s Wine Warehouse, Lakeview Grocery, Elio’s Wine Warehouse, Iverstine Butcher in Baton Rouge and Acquistapace in Covington. Additional locations are set to be added regularly. Boucaner is also available by the glass at several restaurants and hotels in the New Orleans area.
